Do you suggest I use use a pick axe and make 'speed holes' Homer Simpson style?

Or just let the fire burn through?

Seriously, the problem was an oil leak. The solution is fix the leak. Cool air would have just created a blast furnace.
Not quite. Wouldn't a jig-saw have done the trick?
Yeah fair enough....seemed to have omitted the fact of the oil leak in my head. My bad for the dumbness.

They say things come in 3's so you should be OK now:
1. Scooter crash
2. Blown engine
3. Fire.
all he needs now is a child showing up on his front door asking him "are you my daddy? "

looks nasty from the pics .... lucky its just something minor .

OMG that white powder coating looks fully sick! Now you just need to finish it off.

once its all fixed are you going to fabricate another heatshield or purchase an off the shelf item?

Okay, I really need to make this point.

It was an oil fire due to an oil leak.

There is no such thing as an off the shelf oil shield for a Honda S2000.

Whether I use my shield (which is fine BTW) or some heat wrap, or a combination of the two is not yet decided.

Woo hoo, in one week I manage to pull it down, correct the problem and get it back together again.

Took it out last night and blew an intercooler coupling off. LOL

what about putting a blanket over the turbo?

with that its removeable and is not a headache to remove like heat wrap.

then again blankets arent real cheap.

How will that stop an oil leak?
