CEL - ECT Sensor High Voltage
Hi Gents,
my S registered this CEL error code. My mechanic reckons there could be several possibilities. Should I get a new ECT sensor and see how it goes? Anyone had this before? What was the actual problem? Thanks in advance!

I broke mine once in one of my many changes and had to replace it. It's at the back of the intake manifold. Bit of a bugger getting the rubber boot off and then the connector off. Otherwise it's a simple screw in fitting.

I would double check the code. If you are reading the flashing MIL light a leading zero can be tricky to catch.
I seem to remember the ECT and secondary O2 sensor heater codes can be mixed up depending on how you read the morse code codes.
Get a multimeter onto the sensor to check if its got around 1-2K ohm resistance, also check the wiring running to it to make sure there isnt any damage from rubbing.
My psychic diagnosis is your mechanic misread the code and its actually your secondary O2 sensor heater.
