For the fixed traffic light camera's - you can get 'photoblocker'. Its an aerosol, and you spray it over the numberplate. It dries clear and when the camera flash goes off it completely blurs the numberplate, even during the day. To the naked eye the plate looks untampered with. the only thing is cuz its an aerosol, getting it through the post costs more than usual. We should organise a group buy! Each can is only like around $30USD, and can photoblock like 3-4 sets of plates.
ex-work mate of mine brought a bottle back from the states a few yrs back . Even though he sprayed his plate covers , he never had the balls to test it out .

[QUOTE=AusS2000,Jun 26 2007, 05:16 PM] In NSW we have fixed and heavily signed speed cameras all over the place. I personally love them. They are required to have 3 prominent signs before them and speed limit clearly posted. And as a result there are far fewer hidden speed traps and Highway Patrol about.

Thanks Mr, another piece of redundant and useless information.

That polarised numberplate cover sounds way to 007 for me.. I would surely forget to put it off and get pounced on by the boys in blue. However.. Since we are all being watched by the police.. I went out this morning and washed my numberplates so they are easier to see..

Ps. We tried that photoblocker on a spare numberplate and as Red said... It markedly improved the sharpness of the numberplate in the picture. Anyone considered metalic paint? or something of the like actually painted over the numberplate alphanumerics? with a high enough refractive index I think that could cause some issues.

I have driven behind this red DC2R once and my headlights were reflecting off his number plate protector and you couldn't read the plate at all when this happened...so there must be something out there

In response to the "forgetting to turn it off" plate cover, why not just hook it up to a sort of timer switch? For example set timer for maximum 10 or 15 seconds. It allows plenty of time to pass the point of interest, and then resets to normal mode.
