eBay very recently (in the last week or so) changed its policy on some auctions, so that now occasionally the bidder's user ID is not revealed. They're trying to stop illegitimate third party offers being made to bidders on given items.

I plan on picking up a few items over the next month so I guess I'll have to look into what they've done to prevent the introduction of false bids. It seems that is the catch with anonymous bidders and on the surface I would've thought a more serious issue.

hahaha didnt mean to sound intrusive, its just interesting, i love bidding on things for ebay, your one of the normal people that bid for things that you could actually make use of!

only problem with ebay.. theres always mates of the seller always prepared to bid at the last minute to make the item that lil more than its worth!

And I suppose that if they happened to accidently win they'd just file a notice of fraudulent buyer to avoid having to pay the ebay fees is that correct?

I usually have several browser windows open (each queued up with a successive bid) and bid only in the last minute or 30 seconds of the auction. That way if someone is proxy bidding I can fire counterbids back in an instant instead of fumbling around preparing my next bid in the final seconds.

Muz, I generally do the same just set up two or three tabs in FF. In this case I was caught at an internet cafe and didn't want to risk it stuffing up so I bid early (and consequently was ) and that's why I posted here.

black, who are you talking to? Have you been into Aus' eggnog stash?

It's great.

I got it for $85 delivered in the end.

It a 32 Satellite one with the RFMD chipset. Hasn't dropped out yet, and it's quick to start up.

Pairs quickly with my pda too.

Can't find it anywhere for that price.
