Default I coud get very attached to this car!!

Have a Jaguar S Type R to test drive for a week. This is Jag's AUD 160k M5 muncher!

Absolutely scarey...Limo that does 0 to 100 in 5 secs. Torque is to die for (given the 4.4 litre supercharged engine). I gave it some stick around Mosman, and down the Gore Hill and nearly shat myself...faster than S and sticks to the road like shit to carpet.

Really subtle (looks like any other S type except for 18 inchers and blacked out grille). Got it for the weekend before swapping over for an M3. Gotta love the process of looking for a new company car (only time wankers in these big name dealers suck up to you)!

Aus2000, may drop over and give you a go (or would you prefer waiting for M3)?

I know which one I'd be choosing, if I was in the market for such a car..... it would be an M3, without any hesitation; as they have always been a favourite of mine and certainly an obtainable 'Super Car'!!

How does one get hold of cars, on such an extended 'test drive'.... apart from the serious amounts of $$$ involved?!

Company I work for buys over 200 cars a year on average. Current stable for senior managers includes e class mercs, Audi S6, new 7 series, 156gta (on order) and a whole lot of 3 series bimmers etc. Serious leverage but only with Luxury and mainstream cars (yet to scam a porsche, STi, etc)

The car companies love us and usually approach our fleet manager with an offer to leave a car with us for test drive for a couple of weeks. The serious cars then get cycled around the directors (and the basic 3 series BM and A4s around senior managers etc).

Recently we've had:
- HSV Monaro
- RS4 Audi
- E320 merc
- X5 BM
- S type R jag
- 7 series BM
- HSV Grange Statesman
- Volvo C70 convertible

M3 and 156GTA are on their way!

Just a small couple 'niggles'. Best time I've seen for one if 5.5sec (usually high 5s) and usually the HSV GTS (in the same tests) is quicker. M3 is even quicker usually and M5 quicker than that. I have seen the local magazines get flat 5.0 out of an M5.

Either way, you won't be 'munching' M5s with this ... they'll be 'munching' you. Still, it is an aweosme car and meant to handle very well.

I agree. I am getting tainted by the English press as the only motor mag I buy is EVO. They rate it better (albeit marginally) than the M5. After surfing for more objective reviews, one is again confronted by how incredibly skewed the English often are about vehicles (especially those with a union jack).

Rarely does one see the English press praise Japanese cars...although EVO gave NSX-Type R best car this year I think!
