Members list
A little while back now someone asked if we could get a list of the Australian members together like we used to in V3. Well Cthree has kindly made that an option again now so at the click of a button we can see the member's name, title, location and role. Im not too sure if just anyone can do it or if its just the COs but at least the function is there to be used at anyone's request now ;) The list below shows that there are 35 members with Australia as their location but in actual fact there are only 33 since hlau and slick are both repeated in the list for some reason
You'll probably also notice that there are some missing, I'm not sure why that is so I'll ask in the CO forum and post back soon ;) Member Name Title Location Role #69 Guest Sydney 7900S2k Guest a land down under AusS2000 Community Organizer Sydney Austblue Community Organizer 3rd bedroom on the right Blackie Member Melbourne bris2000 Guest Brisbane cashout Member Sydney cjw07 Member Brisbane. If you look back at some of the old threads I did, you'll see there's heaps more than 30 something.
When you do the search don't look for just "Australia". You'll find that many people have put "AU" or "Aus" as their country. No names mentioned but a few turkeys have put "Oz" as their country too. Perhaps better to do the search - where Country contains 'Au' Edit: For Example, This thread below shows we had 570 members as at 28 August 2003. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=145881 Another thread - https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=58502 - shows we had 173 members as at 24 April 2002 And - https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=75883 - shows we had 250 members as at 16 August 2002 |
Agreed RR, but this isn't a search string that I used but rather the function that was developed by Cthree. I've told him that it is flawed atm and I'll wait for a response before I suggest fixes I think.
Actually looking at those threads, I've come to realise that the list I posted is just a list of who has our badge. That being the case I think that if we add those that are active yet choose not to bear the badge we have ourselves someone of a snapshot of the active members which is a more accurate reflection than if we were to include every tom, dick and harry that signed up for a day back in 2000 but haven't been here since. I'm sure you'll have an opinion on this so I'll wait by my computer with baited breath (hitting f5) waiting to hear it ;) |
What I'd be interested to see are the numbers for the following..........
Total number of members/guests for Australia. Perhaps with a breakdown by State Number who have made zero (or less than 3?) posts Number who have made more than XX posts since 2001 Number who have made xx posts in last 12 months The top ten/twenty posters and their accumulated totals and/or any other interesting stats we can derive from the membership list |
Were these types of stats ever available? I really dont see that sort of work being something that cthree would jump at though I have very little knowledge as to what it would entail.
Can you (or anyone else reading) explain what it would take to gather this information? |
"Were these types of stats ever available?" Of course they were. Go back and look at the threads listed above. I'm NOT suggesting that C3 should do it for us. We can do it ourselves.
The stats were extracted from the membership list. The list was freely available to browse until the big upgrade in 2004. If we had access to the membership list we could easily do it again. All you have to do is search for all members with "Country" listed as Aus, Au, 61, Oz or whatever; print out the resulting list and then manually count how many from NSW, VIC, Qld etc. To work out the posting stats you just re-sort the resulting list by descending number of total posts. Similarly, you can extract stats on threads by sorting the Australian S2000 Owners section by number of replies and number of views etc. |
Don't forget Aut!

Alright rr, I've quoted your post in a thread that was started in the CO forum so I'll let you know what the results are.
