moving to brisbane from the states...some ?'s
I am in the U.S. now, but i am moving to Brisbane in February to start studying for my master's degree. I don't think it would be cheap to ship my car over there in the first place, but my question is: what kind of emissions or DOT (equivalent) standards must a car meet. I know cars over their are Right Hand Drive, so will it just be too much to go through the whole process of bringing my car over there? Also, i looked at the prices of bikes over there, and even after the currency conversion they are kind of pricey...what gives?

Everyone one this forum that has asked this question has decided against it. You could search here using terms like 'import duty', and 'that's totally outrageous'.
As to why bikes are so expensive here you could probably take it back to the US's control of world economies, but I'll leave that up to the experts.

Bikes, and just about every other commodity you can think of are, not necessarily expensive in Australia, the fact is that the US is just bloody cheaper than anywhere else.
Welcome to the real world, you have been spoilt by your experiences in the US.
