The guy was worth 7 Billion dollars and now we're paying for a state memorial service?

cool, but i dont really want to have to search, a simple answer of a few names could have sufficed.
but i agree, kp would probably be the most likely candidate for a state funeral, he probably will have a few buildings and such named after him as well in the future

The PM rewarding his mates I'd say. He knows KP had a hand in his success. For anyone who thinks he deserves a state funeral for his philanthropic acts, just imagine how many defibrilators could have been bought with the tax he didn't pay. I think Howard has misread this one and it may well backfire at the polls.

I would guess that even with all the taxes that KP has dodged, he has probably payed enough taxes to keep a small country running ... including big part of Australia. Also how many people have made a living because of him?
I don't have any strong feeling one way or the other, but why not some of that meney be returned to him in terms of the funeral?
IMHO, KP dodging 90% of his taxes, and still paying (let's say) $1Bil in taxes over his life is better than someone who never got a job, never dodged any taxes, and at the same time has not payed a cent to the Govt.
