Is it possible to rent an S2000 in Sydney?

In a few weeks I'll be downunder for vacations and would love to do it.

I have lived in Sydney in the (distant) past, and I always thought that Australia was the perfect country for open top motoring...

Luis

S2000s are available for hire by a few companies. They are not common by any means but I have seen them before.

Your best bet would be check up with a few of the companies like Hertz or Avis on your arrival. I am certain you will find one if that is what you want.

I know a company in Melbourne that definitely have it available but that is not much good for you in Sydney

There's a company on William St Darlinghurst that rent sports cars and I recently noticed they have an S2000.

If you like I'll get in contact with them and get you rates. I don't think it will be cheap but the way our dollars going even the Escudo (SP??) may be strong .

Email me and give me your trip details.

The company is Sports Car Rentals

The S2000 is $385 a day, or $225 a day for two weeks.

I never knew I owned such an expensive car

Man, $385 is outrageous!!

I just saw on the Thrifty site that their Townsville office has a special on the S2K for $198. That should mean that it is available in Sydney as well.

Try http://www.thrifty.com.au

In that case definitely try the big guys first.

Thrifty
Hertz
Avis

I didn't know they had S's. It tried last April and they didn't have any open top cars.

Thanks Guys.

The townsville offer is enticing. I'm getting off a Mike Ball cruise to the Coral Sea on April 10, and I'll hang around northern queensland til the 13. I was planning to return to Sydney from Cairns but I could change my plans.

Let's just keep our fingers crossed (you're going to kill me for this...) that the AUD keeps its current trend!

Tried Thrifty in Sydney today and they don't have any S's.

Mines in the shop so I thought I would rent one for the HSCC drive to the Hunter.

In the end I had to make do with a Ford Falcon... Too much luggage to fit in an S2000 boot, even if I stored most of it in a locker at the airport .

I am surprised at the limited number of S2000 I saw on the road. Are there really that many in OZ? The only one that I saw on the move was in the Cairns to Port Douglas highway. Just the perfect setting for the car BTW.

I saw another one in a garage in Melbourne when I visited a friend that lives in the Esplanade, and the very last one was on display at the Melbourne airport today.

And here is a picture:

Luis, I am surprised to hear you say that. As I pointed out in a previous thread, there are around 3 times as many S2ks on the road in Australia per head of population compared with the US (I don't know about Europe).

Glad you enjoyed your visit - get any diving in on the reef?
