how IS Beaver's GF?
One final thing. I bought my old '99, with OEM kit and 36k, for $45k in 2003. For anyone whose mathematical skills are limited, that's 3 years ago. Methinks cars have gone down in value since then. But hey, that's just me, what would I know, I spend all of my time wrist deep in midgets.

I first thought of selling it back in June. At that point in time the dealers (several of them) offered me $20k and I had one private offer for $24k. I got busy with other stuff so the car wasn't sold (but I stopped driving it).
When I listed it for sale in OCT the car had only been driven an extra 800kms and I had put a ding on the door sill on the passenger side (I was quoted between $300 and $400 to fix it but decided not to). I got offered $23k by the same dealers who offered $20k in June when the car didn't have the ding.
So maybe now that petrol prices have come down cars are easier to sell and people are asking more for them...

Hey Fisty, I understand what you are saying and I don't doubt that there are bargains to be had (although that $29k car has almost 50% more kms than the one at Scotts and is a private sale so no form of warranty whatsoever) but you have to be lucky to a) see it at the right time and b) have it somewhere close to where you live so you can actually go an see it.
Personally I am an impulse buyer, when I decide I want something I tend to just go out and buy it. I assume you are the sort of person who, when clothes shopping, has to check every single store in the state to save $10 on an item. Sometimes it just ain't worth all that hassle!!

Or are we trying to have our cake and eat it too?
And you're half right about me shopping around. Saving $10 on a pair of shorts might not do it for me, but even if it takes me a week of research and punting about to save a few thousand on a car- yeah, I'll do that. And anyone who isn't earning super-bucks is a goose if they don't do the same.
