Less than 1 hour until the race! I'm stoked, should be a really interesting season with competition from 3 engine manufacturers and the new chassis.

 

I was there for the inaugural St. Pete race. GREAT venue!

Trying to watch on TV, but these extended yellows for MINOR incidents/non-incidents are intolerable. I'm done, out the door.

 

Great win for Helio! I really like the new cars and turbo engines. I can't wait for Long Beach. We're top row, GS 29, on Shoreline, across from the pits, just past the Toyota Bridge, at the start-finish.

Fortunately I was at the race. Unfortunately I was sick during my week in Florida. I took pix of most every car, and some good close ups of Sato's steering wheel (thanks to Tom at RLL Racing) but haven't been up to download them and sort them.

IMO, the cars are ugly. I wanted to see them in person before I passed judgement, and that rear "bumper" has to go. From head on and from directly above they look good. As for the engine sound, they sound like LeMans sportscars (not surprising, really) not like the turbos of the past. And I only heard the Hondas backfire and pop, not so much from the Chevys or Lotuses.
