Default Ashey Judd @ the Indy 500 *spoiler*

Well usually, I give ABC TV a bunch of grief for always showing the wives toward the end of the race (in years past, a pregnant over-accessorized Sandy Andretti comes to mind). It's all about the drama, I guess...

However, Ashley Judd stayed out in the rain in a sun dress, wet hair, make-up all smudged, while watching her husband win the race. She actually seemed supportive and thrilled to be there vs. most of the racer wives/girlfriends have been in the past.

Very supportive.

While it was absolutely the right call from a safety perspective (especially given the number of crashes during the race), there's something disappointing about a "win" awarded based on a weather call while under a yellow flag. Gives the feeling there will be an asterisk next to Franchetti's name in the record books. Did he really earn the win, or did he just win the lottery by being at the front of the pack given the yellow/weather situation?

Yea, he lucked into it, but in a few years no one will remember unless they show it in highlight reels.

Ashley is genuinely supportive and she is much better to look at than the wiggly-armed Bev Patrick (Danica's mother) who was doing the Voodoo/Rain dance.

A lot of times people luck into the win even if it goes 500 miles. Just a couple years ago Danica Patrick would have won based on a lucky fuel situation if the race had been a lap or two shorter, and would have placed much lower than she did if it had been a lap or two longer. These things happen in long oval track races, especially if (like IRL and unlike NASCAR) there are a lot of green flag pitstops.

I'm glad for him. He hasn't had a major win in a while.

That was a long day with Monaco, Indy, and the Coca Cola 600. I wish they'd televise F1 in HD.
