Too bad Bernie is not as perceptive as Martin.
I wish more team principles would stand up and say this, and I wish they were saying things like this every week, and getting right in Bernie's and Max's face with it too!
So, leaving aside the whole WHERE issue, anybody want to venture a guess on WHEN we will once again have a US F1 GP?
And then going one step farther, anybody think Canada will get a race back BEFORE or AFTER us?

'We need a race in America' - Whitmarsh
12 March 2009
McLaren Team Principal Martin Whitmarsh has stressed that a Formula 1 race in America is essential, due mainly to the sheer amount of manufacturers and sponsors based in the United States. The American Grand Prix at Indianapolis was last seen in 2007 before being dropped from the calendar.
"There's a clear view among the Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) that we need a Grand Prix in America and we have got to work on how to achieve that. The view of FOTA is that we've got to look more strategically as to how we can develop the calendar," Whitmarsh explained to Autosport. "We've concentrated on making sure that we have a viable sport, controlling costs and improving the show, but there are a range of issues we have got to turn our minds to."
Despite having a race in the USA until 2007, the event was severely damaged by the farcical six-car race two years earlier, after which F1 commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone and Indianapolis Motor Speedway owner Tony George were never able to secure a new deal.
"We can't turn our back on it," Whitmarsh continued, "but maybe we have to have a completely different approach." With the Canadian Grand Prix also removed from the calendar after last year's race, FOTA is sure that Formula One must come together to take the sport back to North America: "Rather than leave it in the hands of the promoter, how do we develop the interest?" Whitmarsh questioned. "Perhaps send drivers on a promotional tour a year or six months before to appear in shows and make investment."
FOTA's plans should be strengthened with news this year that the USGPE team, based in Charlotte, is hoping to join the grid by the start of the 2010 season.

i think it's more likely they'll go back to Canada next year, but it will take a few years to bring a race back to the US. i agree, i wish more teams would come out and say stuff like this.

The only RIGHTFULL place for a US F1 is The Glen - However, that's right up there with a snowballs chance in hell
It's just hard to believe that Napoleon has left N.A. without a friggin F1 race...
