Gotcha, was under the impression you towed the CRX to the track.
Nope. The CRX-SiR is retired, as it has nearly 9,000 track miles I figured in 2001 it had earned itself a break. Enter stage left S2000. The CRX-SiR is now my daily driver in the summer, not only is it fun, not only do people completely missjudge its performance potential, but it sips gas instead of gulping it. When I retire the S2000 that car will stay in my stall and be as close to OEM as it can. The next car however (thinking C6), could very well be my last track car, and that one stands about a 90% chance of getting stripped.

Now, as far as towing, that starts this year. I just ordered this after months of research and knowing I was going to start towing is why I bought the Titan, it is due in about 4 weeks. And by the way, when I'm at Mosport with ya it will be my 1st towing experience...

I'd love to build a track car. Better yet, I'd love to just buy one of those Formula Fords.

IMO NEVER NEVER NEVER *****BUILD***** a track car!!!

Take it from someone who's been there, done that, spent over $34K to do it...you can pick up a USED race-ready car for SOOOOOO much less! Let someone else spend the ca$h.

Case in point: my Alfa technician just picked up a ready-to-race SCCA ITB spec-RX-7 for $3500! Never been hit, all it needed was a wash. To me, that's the way to start racing!

Disagree if you want...even if the thing needs a new engine I think you'd still be WAY ahead of the game to buy someone else's ride.

Cheers,
Diane

f1_fanz is right from my point of view. Because I'm close to the BMW CCA, I have seen several BMW CCA purpose built club race cars go for really low prices. Some people get into it with both feet, spending huge money, then grow tired of it all after a few years and sell off everything they own.

I really did not want to start towing with a 22 foot enclosed aluminum trailer with beautiful custom cabinets, but one that sold here locally went for a completely unblievable price. It was so damn low my mind was forced to forget the amount , but the key here, it was a true deal!

I have a ton of rental car track stories... here are just two.

Dodge Neon, rented by instructor/student from CA who wanted to drive The Glen. He flew out, got the rental, hit NAPA on the way to the track for a set of Cool Willy brake pads. After the 3-day weekend he returned the Neon, and he just left the Cool Willys on the car. Can you imagine how loud those things must have been when driven cold.

Ford Crown Victoria, rented by who? Car was just plain flying around the track, with 4 people in it. It was hanging it out, it was slicing through the field of students, it was damn fast for a loaded sedan, and the guys inside were no skinny kids. end of weekend I finally ask, who the hell are you and how in the heck are you getting so much out of this car. Reply - we are a bunch of Busch Series truck racers and we wanted to check out The Glen so we rented this Crown Vic.
