I would love to see this Cosworth idea happen
I think this would be just plain too cool. Say give each driver 5 shots per race, with stipulations they can use 10 shots during practice but 0 shots for qualifying. This way they could do plenty of testing but qualifying would be based on true speed so a slow car would not end up at the front of the grid.
Cosworth propose boost button for F1
By Michele Lostia; Wednesday, April 26th 2006, 13:50 GMT
Engine suppliers Cosworth have suggested the introduction of a boost button to help increase overtaking in Formula One. The system, which has been successfully used in the A1 GP series this season, allows a driver to have access to more engine power with the click of a button.
In A1 GP's case, the boost button allowed a driver to have an extra 30HP for a limited number of times during a race. Cosworth's proposal would require rev-limited engines that would surpass that limit when the button is pressed, this helping a driver overtake. "It's a spectacular and relatively simple solution: the idea is to supply, during the race, an amount of time of extra revs equals to one or two laps' worth," Cosworth's commercial director Bernand Ferguson told Autosprint magazine.

I think it's a great idea for tracks like Imola or Monaco. Although the last race was good, the fact that Alonso couldn't get by MS due to the track layout was a little disconcerning..

You just said Ferrari was cheating with the flexi back wing and that is why they were the fastest ones. Now your saying it's the tracks fault? Jeez Nabeel, you are all over the map today can't you make up your mind on who to blame?

Dude, Imola in general is a tough place to pass. Forget the whole MS vs FA thing. If there was a way to keep a wonderful track like Imola while still inducing some passing, i'm all for it.
Don't get me started on Ferrari again....
