All the race cars are Honda powered

At all the other races the IRL races they use Ridgelines as support trucks and the Accord coupe as the pace car


Why does the Indy 500 use Chevy trucks and a Corvette as a pace car ?


I'm sure a modified Accord V6 coupe can run 140mph

I think it's a throw back to the days when Chevy raced in the series. The year I went to Indy in 04 they had a huge Corvette display at the race. I think Chevy has a lock on Indy event.

Since it's an "American" event they want an "American" car to pace it I guess. Maybe there is a deeper reason and I just don't have a clue If so would love to know it.

I always cringe when I see anything out there since the S would be a perfect pace car

 

I like how the Clarity is getting to look more like a real car! You need to resize that photo though - freaking huge!
