Default Is Marco ready for Indy?

We've talked about Danica moving up too quickly, and now we have Marco Andretti stepping into Dan Wheldons ride at AGR. He went winless in his first season in Star Mazda, but won a Barber championship, and a few IPS races. I think he should have run atlantics this year, and moved to ChampCar when he's ready. However, if he's going the IRL route, there aren't too many places to learn the oval craft these days so from that perepective it makes sense.... I guess we'll see!

interesting to see him carry the Andretti name

i'd like to see him take it to Europe and see if he can compete in F1 one day, as F1 has really soured the Andretti name because nowadays, when the name "andretti" is mentioned in F1, they don't think of Mario's successes, but rather the dismal attempt by son Michael

I still have doubts about his actual speed in the car. I've watched most of the Mazda races this year, and I thought Rahal was faster and more aggresive. In another orum, James Hinchliff chimed in and mentioned that he thought Marco should have gone for a Mazda title or on to Atlantics.

I think Marco's more ready than little Foyt was last year, but we all know what a disaster that was. AGR builds a very competitive machine, so we'll find out pretty quickly if he's got the chops to compete.

I'm excited about Michael returning to Indy for one more try. Despite his dismal F1 legacy, Michael's a good guy and certainly a great ambassador for Honda.

Maybe the Andretti's buy a lot of insurance and get Mario in the car. Probably the first (an last time) three gernerations would race in the same race. Nah, I love Mario too much to risk seeing him get hurt!
