Hey Edmond & all race fans!

Check out http://www.vrbo.com/ for accommodation rentals - this is where I found places to stay when I attended the Montreal races in 2006 & 2008. Montreal's public transit (i.e. subway) is really well set up; besides 1) the track is at one of the stations, and 2) much of downtown (where all the special events for the race weekend are happening) are at one stop or another on the subway.

In the recent years of Bridgestone's involvement, they have held and open pitlane day - don't know about 2010...? In '06, BMW created a "pitlane" where they had many displays and held regular shows from the numerous racing categories they participated in - that was one of the highlights of the weekend besides the race... Nothing from them in '08, and with their exit of F1... Well, hopefully another team / manufacturer will step up and put on a show away from the track.

Be prepared for hot & muggy weather, and a significant amount of walking, in addition to very good shopping deals in a welcoming city, plus the glorious sounds of those awesome engines!!!

Enjoy!

^Good stuff. I was going to overpay for a hotel, but some of those deals look excellent. Thanks.

Just a reminder, New laws require you to either have an updated passport or enhanced drivers lisense in order to cross the Canadian border.
Thanks for the reminder but don't you mean crossing the US border instead? LOL

I always have an up-to-date passport coz I don't know where/when I would be traveling next even though in reality I have barely traveled once a year

I just booked an apartment from vrbo for the week. These great deals are going quick. Get on it folks. The minimal deposit required is worth it for the peace of mind in knowing you have that taken care of.

I think there are still people that don't realize this is F1 week. Some are more than doubling their rates for that one weekend.

I also set up an alert at www.f1.com to send me an email when tickets become available...i don't know how reliable that will turn out to be, but it's a step.

Good stuff Incubus! Yes, the accommodations usually go faster than the race tickets!

At the moment, I am living vicariously through all of you - new twin Girls are likely to keep me home and watching the race on tv - not that that is a bad thing

Thoughts on renting a motorhome and driving to the track and parking at the track all weekend?

I'm sure people do this but any first hand experiences?

An RV isn't really an option for this race. The track in on a small island just off of Old Montreal with no parking out side what's there for the casino.

Confirmed by the race organizers via email

This is the [English portion] of the email I just received from the race organizers:

============================================

Dear F1 Fans,

It is now confirmed:
the 2010 Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada will be making its eagerly awaited return to Montreal on June 11th, 12th and 13th, 2010
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every summer for just over thirty years, with rare exception, your Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve has welcomed the biggest autosport championship, along with its prestigious teams and seasoned drivers. Grand Prix weekend has always been filled with your enthusiasm and the high-energy atmosphere that spreads from the track to downtown Montreal. F1 is definitely ready to relive this spirit!

Also to look forward to next June are the return of McLaren, Ferrari and Williams, who all achieved great victories here. Ferrari's Alonso and Massa, McLaren's Button and Hamilton, as well as Barrichello and Kubica will all return to the place where you witnessed their amazing feats on our challenging track. In 2010, F1 will also feature many other new additions: a Mercedes team now on track with the amazing Nico Rosberg and the return of the legendary Lotus brand.

Our 2008 ticket holders will be privileged to the best seats before sales open to the general public, at 2008 prices. You have until January 15th, 2010 to buy your tickets by contacting our box office at (514) 350-0000 or by visiting us online at www.circuitgillesvilleneuve.ca. You may also complete the order form and send it to us via fax at (514) 350-0007.

The entire team at Octane Racing Group wishes you a Happy Holiday season and is thrilled to invite you to participate once again in this notable Montreal event on June 11th, 12th and 13th, 2010.

They include a link for their site to order tickets, or you can call them (I have done both in the past - some of the people who take your order over the phone can give a bit of information about the seats you are interested in, e.g. whether there is a big screen tv in front of you, sight lines, etc.).

Enjoy!

Prices are pretty much the same as 2008.

I like the look of Grandstand 12. Any advice? I'm definitely going to miss all practices, and may not make qualifying. I hate spending money on 3 days...but I may not have a choice.
