Default New to F1 this year...

Well firstly I'm VERY excited for the opening race in Bahrain as this year I have become quite interested in F1 and this will be the first season that I'm following it.

I'm also excited to see that there is a new Honda team this year and that they have a Japanese driver. Nothing at all against BAR at all, but for me it fits better that a Honda team be from Japan

My question is this though.... I've been lurking in this forum a little bit and there seems to be a lot of references to Sato being some kind of joke around F1. Since this is the first year I've been following F1, I know that he has a history with grand prix, but I don't know the details.

Could someone fill me in (without editorializing) on some of the events behind this image that Sato seems to have with a lot of the guys on here?

Oh and I look forward to following the season with you guys

I just read the WIKI on Sato. Sounds like he has the potential to be fast if he could develop some consistency and keep the car (and those around him) in one piece....

1AP12NV -- wise choice in following F1! This should be a great year for the Honda Racing F1 Team, based on testing, the car is the most reliable and one of the quicker cars. I think reliability wil be key, particlarly early in the season, and Honda seems to be the team that has put the most miles on its engines w/o failures.

I doubt that Sato's team "Super Aguri" will be very competitive, but with the Honda power, they should not have too many DNF due to engine failures.

I'll also mention that if you haven't already considered it, you should see Formula 1 racing in person. The only North American races are in Canada (Montreal) and the United States Grand Prix in Indianapolis. I go to both each year and have a great time.

This year you can buy tickets for all three days of the United States Grand Prix weekend at the USGP for $100 if you go to this thread here and find the "Ticket Deal Linky":

Weekend - $100; Race day only $75
