In other words, stop racing and just parade around the track. Ah yes, F1 -- the pinnacle of motorsports. Nothing that needs to be fixed here, now is there?
Some of us believe there is a LOT MORE to racing than this kind of crap.

That's not racing, that's just crappy county fair quality domolishing derby...
Doug, open your eyes. Do you really think parade laps are fun racing? Don't you race yourself (or are you just an HPDE guy, like me)?
OK, let's leave aside the roundy-roundy races for a moment. Which race would you rather watch -- the typical F1 race where the highlight of the day is whether the fourth-place car beats the fifth place car into the first turn past the pit lane on the last stop, or some Star Mazda race where a couple of kids are swapping the lead for the last five laps of the race, desperately trying to get enough attention to maybe get a paying ride somewhere? Now that's racing, in my book.

FM clearly wasn't as fast as KR but faster than the 3rd place car. Racing does NOT mean you have to be full out all the time. It means you do the best you can, then when it is apparent you aren't going to catch the person in front of you, do what you can to maintain the position you are in. If you don't you crash, then who are you racing?

It DOES NOT mean you race against your team mate at any cost.

Yes, I believe in team orders. Yes, I believe more passing would be fun in F1. And yes, if FM had not crashed he would not have had anybody to pass because KR was way out in front, and he would not have had someone trying to pass him because 3rd place was a ways back. I don't see it as a big deal.
I don't have a real problem with the way F1 is. Yes, there can be some follow the leader, but that is not the only thing it has to offer. No form of racing is perfect, you take the good with the bad. From my point of view F1 has lots and lots of good to offer, so dealing with a few not so greats is not a big deal to me.
I do not race, I cannot afford to have people crashing into me so I prefer the more controlled environment of driving schools. Maybe because of this I sort of enjoy the parades once in a while, because I know all too well how fun it is to be out in front by just enough the car behind can't catch up. And as a spectator I find it a blast to watch as someone works their butt off to try and take the pass.

They don't go 10/10 because they're trying to preserve their tires, engine, etc. After Massa crashed, Raikonnen immediately slowed down a bit because he didn't have to push hard any longer.
