So are you saying that F1 was stale when Alonso won in 05 & 06, and that Renault's achievements would stale in comparison to Sauber & Toro Rosso.
Hence why I said the past 2-3 years? Boring....boring....boring. Everyone knew the 2 teams that would be winning....Ferrari or McLaren. Come on now.

To folks that criticize Schumi, I only ask them to go back to Brazil 06 where he dropped to last and finished fifth behind Alonso (and im sure gave him a real scare as well). To me Schumi regardless of all controversy is the MAN.
My ultimate MS race was France, Magny-Cours, July 5, 2004.

In all honesty, I don't recall any other wins pulled off by a 4-pit stop strategy. To me this was the ultimate MS performance. Brawn and Todt told him how much time he could spend, and he drove down to that time. His drive was flat out awesome!!! Four pit stops, think about it, just amazing strategy and driving and car's performance.

Still gives me goose-bumps.

Yes,....that was crazy. He was a machine. I remember that race as well. Too bad Senna died tragically though....he would have had a few of Schu's titles.

As we are in a reflective mood....

Senna = best of the best. Two of my most dear possessions are his autograph, and a Nakatsu limited edition (212 of 500) print of him in the 1990 McLaren. Lusted after that print for years, finally picked it up for half price at a sale in London when I was on exchange there in '98.

Re: fave races, in no particular order - Spa 2000, Mika's pass on Schumi around Zonta; Suzuka 2005, Kimi hitting the limiter on the front straight, passing Fisi on the last lap; Dijon 1979 (never saw it live, I was only 1 then!) Villeneuve and Arnoux battling for second place; Jerez 1997, to see Mika's first win and Jacques taking the title, and Williams and McLaren working together to stick it to Schumi and Ferrari; Indy 1995 to see Jacques be the first Canadian to win the 500 (I know, not F1 but whatever); Adelaide and Suzuka 1993 and Senna winning convincingly; Donington 1993 and Senna's first lap; Interlagos 2005 and the look of triumph on Alonso's face, ending Schumi's hegemony; Suzuka 1996 and seeing Hill finally win the title; Suzuka 1998, Schumi stalling on the grid, Mika winning the title (got up at 3:00AM to watch it live - was in England at the time); Suzuka 1994 and the awesome dice between Alesi and Mansell (even though on aggregate times!), plus Hill taking it down to the wire with the win; Montreal 1994 and Alesi finally taking a win, too bad I had to watch it live on French CBC and the bastards cut to commercial every five laps!!!

Better get back to work now and stop reminiscing...

Saaboteur you make me feel old....

my favorite race was the only one I ever saw in person.
Gilles Villeneuve winning in Montreal in 78.

It mildly amusing to go back to that race grid and realize 6 cars did not qualify.
remember when F1 was so competitive that cars might not make the grid.....

Heh, and I read in the some of the other forums on S2ki and think I'm the old one... I tellya, getting over the 30 year old hump was hard!

I've been lucky enough to attend two races in person, Monaco '97 and Spa '02. Unlucky, though, because Schumi won both... I tellya, I kept wishing for years that his engine would explode. Guess I should mention another fave race - Suzuka '06, when all that wishing finally led to it happening!
