Audi confirms line-ups for Le Mans
Audi has confirmed its driver line-up for the three R15 TDIs it hopes will maintain its unbroken run of victories in the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours.
The crew that scored a dramatic victory in last year's event - Tom Kristensen, Allan McNish and Rinaldo Capello - will be given the chance to defend their crown in the #1 car. While the team has also kept the-all German crew of Lucas Luhr, Mike Rockenfeller and Marco Werner in the #2 car following their third place at Sebring in February.
The #3 squad combines Porsche's double LMP2 American Le Mans Series champions Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas with Audi regular Alex Premat.
"The 12-hour race at Sebring was a successful dress rehearsal for us," says Audi motorsport boss Dr Wolfgang Ullrich. "That's why we didn't make any changes to the driver teams that competed at Sebring.
"The squad for the third car automatically resulted from this decision. I'm convinced that we've filled the cockpits of all three R15 TDI cars at Le Mans with outstanding racers - also thanks to the two drivers Porsche is providing to us."
I think car #3 will be faster than #2. Wish it would have been: Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas & Lucas Luhr
