Can someone tell me why the Panoz DP 01 chassis wasn't allowed to be used in the IRL when Champ Car and IRL merged? Was it a contract issue with the supplier of the IRL chassis or was it an issue with the engine mounts not lining up to accept the Honda engine or was it something else?

The S2000 parade in the background was definitely a high point of coverage!

What a lot of freaking yellows

Champ Car and IRL did not "merge". IRL bought up the remnants of the failed Champ Car. IRL likes the current arrangement of everyone using the Dallara, so that's just the way it is.

It's basically a spec series.

2 completely different car designs, specs, etc... basically like racing an F1 car against an IRL.

I thought maybe I was alone. I found the race boring except for a bunch of rookie mistakes.
