Honda yet to shine in pre-season testing
Honda's new F1 car has failed to make an impression so far this winter.
The Brackley based team is hoping the RA107 can finally carry Honda to a championship challenge, but sources report that the chassis is not quick and the engine may have fallen behind the pace of its rivals.
Engineering director Jacky Eeckelaert admitted that the car is not as quick as McLaren, Ferrari and BMW's new offerings, "but we think we're ahead of Renault," he told the British magazine Autosport.
"We're confident in what we're doing," he added.
Despite high expectations, Honda has had a subdued presence at the pre-season test tracks.
Jenson Button's best lap at Barcelona earlier this week was more than 1.5 seconds off the Ferrari pace.
A statement quoted the British racer as saying: "I am confident that we can make the right steps to put us in the position that we want to be in."
This is a change from previous pre-season testing for Honda F1. When they would rack up huge millage and be turning fast lap after lap. I like this sandbagging tact better.
07 season looking to be very good.

I would say - Honda has the best chance this year. No more shumi, Kimi in a new team, FA in a new team. Both of those guys will have learning curves, while Button has the stability of being in the same team. Plus, he has the confidence of knowing that he can win.
