You won't be seeing any S2000s in Grand Am

Several of us have tried like hell to get the car "classified", but GAC has it in for our car. First they refused to classify us at all, saying we were too slow and didn't have enough torque. (Um... had they compared our stock numbers to the RX-8s they love so much??!! NOT!!!)

Finally, after threats of legal action, they kinda agreed to let the car in, but with such ridiculous restrictions on suspension and tire sizes, we wouldn't stand a chance. (Basically, no more than stock! )

Bottom line... GM and Mazda pour a fortune into GAC. (Funny how those are the cars that win all the time, huh? ) Acura and Nissan put in a little bit of $$ and their cars are at least allowed to compete. American Honda has NO interest in road racing and won't spend a penny on it. As a result, the S2000 is the redheaded, freckled stepchild of American racing.

It's totally unfair, but until Honda gets with the program, Honda Cup and Honda Challenge are pretty much all we have.* (SWC said they'd let us in, but even with forced induction, we don't stand a chance against the Porsches, Vettes, and Vipers.)

IT JUST AIN'T RIGHT!!!

* Actually, since the S2000 has become so dominant in Honda Cup out here, (now that Rylan, Richard, Will, and Alex have joined King Karner) all the other competitors are screaming to get new restrictions put on our car, so that all those Civics and Integra/RSXs will have a chance again.

I can tell you that my next race car won't be an S2000. I LOVE the S2k, especially on the track, but you can't really compete anywhere in one. Even Karner is throwing in the towel next year and switching to something else.

I said it once; I'll say it again:

IT JUST AIN'T RIGHT!!!

... there has never been a pro race series ever that was not all about politics and money. Fair? Hah!

I did wonder why there were no S2000s in GAC, though. Thanks for explaining.

I don't get why we can't be classified in grand am. The Z4 races around - are we that different?

S2000's aren't in speed world challenge Touring car because they need back seats right? I know we wouldn't stand a chance against the Porsche's and vettes, but could definitely do some damage against the RSX, TSX, 3 series, etc...maybe the TC rules will get more lax. Isn't World challenge allowing turbo cars this year (srt4)?

It's weird, I went from a RSX to an S2000 because I thought the S2000 was a better race car. And while it might be, I'll see the RSX in grand am and world challenge while the s2000 is nowhere to be found.

While that might be true, it's still a better race car

Did I forget to mention that BMW was also a sponsor?

Yeah, well basing qualifications on skill and merit may be the way things are done in Canada, but here in the US, we try to ignore those things.

Look at our president fer crissakes!

you're right though....unfortunately, s2000 is stuck right in the middle between the two main classes.

Too fast for Touring, too slow for GT.

I believe S2000s are entered in the Super Taikyu series in Japan. Of course, such a thing is never televised in North America.
