Default what's on topic?

In the posting rules at the top of this forum, it says discussions of F1 and other race series are not on topic.

Me, I see a difference between the thread about "how to get a career in racing" that discusses the various types of racing v. the thread about "BAR to be kicked out" that discusses F1 news.

I thought it was appropriate that it was moved out of here before.

It's not that I didn't find the thread interesting, because I did. But I just think that either it should not be in this forum or those rules should be changed. And I would prefer that the rules not be changed.

I even go so far as to think some of the general S2000, tire, mod, performance parts like questions are sort of on topic here because the person is often interested in getting the opinions of people who have tangible experience not just a bunch of noise from the FnF crowd.

As far as NASCAR, F1, IRL, CART, GRAND AM, PETIT LEMANS, and so forth, no, they do not belong here according to the rules. I may be the moderator, but I cannot moderate some people according to the rules of exceptions...

Its not like this is a high traffic forum where the threads fall of the front page.

No, it's not too much of a high-volume forum right now. But I want it to be clear what the rules are, and that they apply to everyone equally.

Also, if F1 is allowed, what about other race series? NASCAR? WRC? MotoGP? Unlimited hydroplanes? SCCA? Indy? NHRA? Tour De France?

(Best racing I've seen in years is found in the Tour De France.)

Or should there be a "racing news/discussion" subforum?

This is a great question because the proper section is Sports and On-line Games and yet if you look in Car Talk you will see a bunch of F-1 threads. Where exactly these should go seems rather unclear. This on the other hand does not seem unclear...

This forum is for the discussion of racing and competition related topics exclusively. Specifically, about the S2000 in racing and competition or your racing and competition experiences, tips and questions.

It's not about race cars, racing on TV, F1, Champ or whatever.

I agree too and I plan to add a sub forum off of this one.

I'll do it in a bit.

I'd really like to see that. I really feel dumb posting F1 threads next to the Doom 4 topics.

Glad we'll have a new place for such stuff.

*just re-read above post dumb question deleted.
