Schumacher turns to acting
Saturday, May 13th 2006, 17:03 GMT
Seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher will feature in Pixar Animation Studios' latest movie. Schumacher will play a cameo in Cars, the new 3D animated movie from Pixar, creators of The Incredibles, Toy Story and Finding Nemo among others. "Yeah, it's true that I give my voice for a sort of cartoon movie," said Schumacher in today's press conference for the Spanish Grand Prix.
When asked what kind of character he would play, Schumacher replied: "A Ferrari car, what else?" Cars, the seventh animated movie to be created by Pixar, features a wide variety of cars as characters. NASCAR legends Richard Petty and Darrell Waltrip, as well as former world champion Mario Andretti will also lend their voices for the movie.
The movie opens in the USA on 9 June.

Because I just love Pixar films I had planned to go see this movie, but with MS making a cameo 'appearence' in in I'm even more motivated to be there on opening nite!

Alonso, Fisichella join Cars cast
Monday, May 15th 2006, 15:28 GMT
Fisichella, Wilson, Alonso and Lasseter in SpainWorld champion Fernando Alonso and Renault teammate Giancarlo Fisichella will join Michael Schumacher in turning to acting for a while.
Both Alonso and Fisichella will lend their voices to a character in Pixar's new movie, Cars, in their respective languages.
Alonso will play a cameo in the Spanish version while Fisichella will do the same for the Italian one.
The news follows a visit to the Spanish Grand Prix paddock by the movie's director John Lasseter and actor Owen Wilson, who voices a lead character.
"It has come from director John Lasseter's love of cars, he has set it in a world of cars, and I am literally the voice of a race car," said Wilson of the movie. "So it tells my journey, starting as an obnoxious race car, who gets his comeuppance and learns his lessons.
"It's a real Hollywood story!"
Ferrari driver Schumacher will also play a cameo in the movie, and it is believed former world champion Mika Hakkinen will lend his voice for the Finnish version of the film.
