I chose the ASM hood for 3 reasons:
1) To fit the Mugen intake without having to cut the stock hood
2) Venting to help cool engine bay + improve acoustics
3) It has ducting for rain which is key because it rains a lot where I live and I enjoy driving in the rain
The Mugen Intake adds a surprising amount of *kick* to the driving experience. Butt dyno approves of the upgrade, however my wallet is still unsure! In terms of acoustics, the tone of the car hasn't changed, but its much more audible at 5K RPMS and beyond. Absolutely howls once VTEC kicks in, but not obnoxious. Very satisfied with the upgrades.
Pics below... In terms of what next, I'm hoping to just enjoy driving the car. It's been stressful getting things to come together and worrying about a local crackdown on modified cars. Theres some small things I want to do, but I'll probably wait until next season.
Car is sitting for the winter, but I've been itching to drive. Hopefully I can insure it for a day or two before I fully insure it in March. I've been playing with putting some video clips and music together so maybe I'll decide to upload soon.
In terms of plans for the car this upcoming season, I'm hoping to focus on driving. I have ordered a GT Goods Leather Shift Boot with red stitching to tie together with the steering wheel and shift knob. I originally ordered the 08 Red from their site, but as it turns out, the OEM stitching for 08 and 09s is actually more pink than red and was not a good match for the Nardi wheel stitching and FD2 CTR shift knob red. Luckily it's been super easy dealing with Jay at GT Goods so we were able to switch it out for their GT Red, which is a better match. Pic of the 08 Red below.
In addition to the shift boot, my mechanic recommends upgrading spark plugs to support the additional breathing done by the mugen intake. Lastly, I would also like better braking power, likely by way of endless pads.
I sorted out the right GT Goods shift boot and got the "GT Red". I am very happy with the quality of the leather and red stitching. It looksandfeels like OEM quality.
In addition, my friend was able to squeeze in the JDM NSX-R horn button into the Nardi deep corn wheel.
Pics of the interior below and more updates to come soon.
