Started the replacement of the convertible top. I bought the Sierra Top with the glass rear window. Since my car is a 2001 this will be a retro fit.

The current top was not bad. But had some wear spots and I don't like the plastic window.

A lot of parts to restore in the process. Like refinishing retainers and clips that had some rust.

Lots of missing clips and some broken trim parts that are no longer available.

Very nice thread. this inspires me to do some of these things to my own vehicle. I never thought to refinish the wheels. Those look great!

Thanks! The wheels make a big difference in my opinion. The car was a 10 footer. I am slowly brining it back.

Got some parts in today. I received one of the door speaker seals and the new/used door insert.

These Kenwood speakers fit perfect with the factory door seals. The door seals should help to improve the sound.

Looks good installed in the door.

Also put the new door insert in the door. It was in great condition but a lighter shade of black. So I matched it to the interior color with interior paint.

Still plugging away at the top. Got the rain rail installed.

I have a lot of interior parts to restore before I finish the top install. The center console is looking good now. It had suffered a fair amount of fade from the sun. The passenger roll loop garnish was separated. I am reuniting the two parts.

I used these washers on the rain rail to make sure the rivets did not just pull through the rubber.

I noticed a number of panels were damaged or had missing connectors or screws in the top shelf when removing the old top.

Both the driver side and the passenger side shelf corners were broken in the same place. Luckily I found the broken part for the driver side. Looking on ebay I could not find any driver side corners in good condition. I was not so lucky for the passenger side. I could not find the broken part. But I found one in good condition on ebay.
I fixed the driver side doing "plastic welding" I have never done this before. It doesn't look pretty but it is strong. Luckily where I did the repair will be hidden under another panel.

The 2nd speaker seal came in. So I replaced the door speaker in the passenger side now too. What a difference in sound. Those old marine speakers without the proper door seals were terrible.
