i use haltech, my tuner b.r.i.a.n. says ~25 is the spot for k24s and when he tuned my f24 it was the same behavior. theres no point in running a lot of timing if you are not picking up power with it.

i believe my vtec is 5200, i might have lowered it to 5000 though

the tuning rational i've heard for vtec is basically do two runs, one with it at 3000 and one without it. where the lines cross is where you put the vtec rpm

No idea what my timing is but Evasive tuned my car and it's always performed great on track I believe my vtec is set at 5k. I'm never below that so it works for me.

My first tune too was a mess. Tune was from another shop and car drove like crap

How much timing do you have configured for WOT? I learned today that while ~30 is the norm for f20 and f22, it is too aggressive for the f24. And that 24-25 is all that is needed for the f24. My tune had 30.. ugh

What do you have configured for your VTEC point? I'm currently at 5000 but based on baseline dyno runs I established today on a mustang dyno it is very clear that I'd benefit from a lower VTEC (to 4400 or even lower). Reason being torque dips just after 4000 until VTEC kicks in at 5000. Also, my AFR is a mess... I'm taking corrective action to make sure this crap doesn't happen again!

Just wanted to share some really great news about my F24 build that has finally completed.

Since my last post I tweaked my custom intake to expand from the 3.5" to 4.0" (for 6" just before the TB, to increase pressure) and then back to 3.0" where it connects to a 74mm skunk2 TB (that I had all sorts of problems with the throttle sticking, mostly resolved now). I port-matched my AP1 intake manifold's inlet to the TB's 74mm. I also upgraded the exhaust header from the Urge unicorn to the Urge unicorn XL.

With all those changes in place, I had my car tuned at Evans Tuning this past Friday by Jeff Evans. Jeff's understanding of the s2000 and AEM infinity is truly remarkable. I could go on and on about Jeff's abilities and just how nice he and his wife Andrea are. Evans Tuning is such a breath of fresh air in comparison to the other 2 shops I had my car tuned at previously. Jeff explains everything and listens to you if/when you have a question or concern. His results speak to the amazing command he has over his craft. Yet he charges very fair market prices (same amount I was otherwise fleeced for, in hindsight given the awful results, by other incapable tuners). And Jeff was super quick with the tune (bulk of the time was spent wiring up the ABS sensors to the AEM infinity so he could enable Traction Control support). I drove 500 miles round-trip to get my 2.4L stroker tuned by Jeff and I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Jeff only saw the need to go to 24-25 for ignition timing, he reduced VTEC crossover to 4000 RPM, he used closed-loop and did an amazing job setting up the 2 VE tables (for low and high cam) in terms of TPS -- the VE table tuning is something I don't think other more average tuners really understand. He also leveraged all my extra sensors (oil temp, oil pressure, fuel pressure) by setting up all the appropriate failsafes. He calibrated knock tables and identified a source of knock and helped remove it.

A huge benefit to Jeff's tune is the improved fuel economy: I was only getting 17 mpg with my previous tune (AFR ranging 12.8 - 13.5 while cruising on highway) on the way to PA. On the way back from PA, even with driving more aggressively than on the way down, I averaged 26 mpg (with AFR ranging 14.8 - 15.1).

Jeff's tune really unlocked my 2.4L's underlying raw performance (performance that I should've always seen, but that was bottled up in my previous abysmal tune).

Dynapak result is 258HP / 192TQ peak (previous tuner's dynojet tune, not reflected in the mustang dyno result above, was only 219HP / 166TQ):

Today I went and did the "after" dyno pulls at my local shop's mustang dyno, here is the result (Evans Tuning's dynapak is reading ~20% higher than this mustang dyno):
