The front of the radiator does not have any damage and it appears that I might have several spots behind the fans that have started leaking. I just sent SoS an e-mail and will call them tomorrow as well. Hoping to get a new one this week so I can prep the car for a track day in a couple weeks. Once I get a new one in, I'll take this one out to swap parts over and see if I can see why it failed.

I pulled the plug to make sure I had an empty radiator to remove. This is all that came out... The radiator has enough leaks that all of it came out. I am also starting to think the Engine Ice may be the culprit.

I got ahold of SoS and they said it would be 4-8 weeks to get a new radiator... Ughhh...

Good to hear you found the source. When installing the SOS v mount I remember thinking that the radiator had a little "wiggle" room that concerned me a bit (like the rubber bushings holding the radiator in place weren't very snug), but it wasn't bad. Not sure if you had that thought/experience as well. It's been a while since I've dug around and looked at it closely but I will before it gets running again.

It does have a little wiggle, but I think that once the intercooler is installed, it tightens it up a bit. They do try to have some vibration damping, which they have updated from my first intercooler to the second.

I did get a radiator ordered, however, it won't be ready until May. I was trying to make a track day at Hallett in a couple of weeks, but now I am going to see if they allow me to run my Sky since it does not have rollover protection. If not, I had an offer for a co-drive in the turbo Miata I've posted here. He's changed the car up over winter with ABS and aero, so I wouldn't mind running it again. That said, I would also love to run the Sky. I may have to do a roll bar in that car, though it is pretty intrusive on the interior.

I don't know the actual failure, but it appears that it's leaking in many spots. The only thing I can figure is the Engine Ice, especially after seeing all the gunk that came from it. I also ordered a new water pump just to make sure nothing is wrong there after running that coolant.

May want to check if you have any local radiator repair shops . You’d be surprised what they can do for fairly cheap. Might get ya by until May.
