Simple & Clean DD 03 S2000
After 4 excruciating years of sifting through this forum, I have finally purchased my S2k this past Jan.
Ever since I joined in 2008, all I have been doing is looking through thread after thread of S2k's being sold in the marketplace and stalking the gallery page.
Here is my 03 GPW S2000 that I bought from a small dealership. It has pretty high mileage but most importantly it is ALL STOCK. My requirements were:
-CLEAN Title
-GPW
-Unmodified
-No major accidents
-Minor to no modifications
-Good condition body
-Fairly Priced within in my budget
Those were hard to meet. Almost every craiglist/forum ad was either salvaged/rebuilt or priced too high. Some people wanted crazy prices just because it was slammed with wheels with a low offset. Enough talk, here it is and I already gotten some good advice from other members I have pm'ed.
This is the start of my build thread and would love to get some advice/tips on my build.
Pics of the car when I first picked it up from the small dealership in SC.

After driving for a few days after getting the car, I would hear this loud ticking noise. The TCT was the culprit so I changed that out with a Billman TCT. Worked like a charm.

The stock shift knob was a mess. Previous owner must've wore like 10 rings on one hand and scratched the shiz out of it. I replaced it temporarily with a stock 07 Civic Si knob from my other car.

From now on, every car I own and will own in the future must have a coilover system. I decided to go with the BC Racing with Extreme Drop kit with 12k springs all around. Fairly easy to install.

No pics of the car lowered on stock wheels because I wanted to wait for my new wheels to come in first so I can roll the fenders before adjusting height.

So I had a problem with vtec not engaging in certain gears. I decided to clean the vtec solenoid and do a proper oil change. Vtec now properly works and hits hard

Dealership told me the oil had a fresh synthetic mobile 1 oil change. That was a lie, shiz came out black as hell. From my own experiences, the car has seen mobil 1, honda synblend, and castrol titanium.
I understand the AP1 is pretty picky when it comes to oil.
The mobile 1 doesn't last at all. Two quarts gone in a matter of 500 miles.
Honda synblend was not that much better with 2 quarts gone in 700 miles.
With the castrol titanium, so far I've gone 800 miles and only had to fill up half a quart. I think I am going to stick with the castrol from now on.

So my new wheels came in. Everybody probably could've guessed what they were. I decided to go with 17x9 +45 Gold Rpf1s running a square setup. I did not want anything lower than a 9in wheel because of the bubble face. Ewwww.
I went with dunlop dz101 in 245/40 squared setup since I got a good deal on them.

mounted. ewwwww massive wheel gap.

Wheels on and lowered about half a inch

Pic next to my civic.

The stock exhaust was way too quiet IMO. Wanted something louder but with minimal drone on highway. Went with the Invidia Q300 with Ti Tip.
I was so excited to install it until I saw this

So the stock cat went out a while ago and had a new cat welded on. It was my fault for not checking before I purchased the car. Luckily I had a friend who had a stock header and cat available and he helped me install everything. Also flushed out all my fluids except the diff fluid. Also readjusted my top because the new top was wrong in some spots.
Ti sexyness

After I got the exhaust installed, I got the fenders rolled but haven't relocated the rear bumper tab yet. Lowered the car more and got a alignment.

Now my car had pretty much all the basics except an intake. I felt like the stock box was good enough.

Once I got back from IA, I decided to the Ap2 front bumper conversion. Got all my parts from scott clark honda and went to work.

And here is the results

After enjoying the car for a few months, I decided on a cheap radio with ipod support. The music on the radio was killing me. Went with a cheap JVC. Does the job and kind of matches the s2000 dash.

The car is a blast to drive but there is always something out there to ruin it. On memorial day, I was on the way back home and out of nowhere, a deer HITS ME. I didn't hit him, he T-boned me according to the witness driving behind me. I didn't even see it coming, I felt a little bump and thought my tire blew out. Pulled to the side and saw the damage
Fortunately, it was only exterior damage. My fresh new bumper had the paint torn off and a couple tabs broken, my oem lip was cracked on one side, pass headlight cracked, and the fender trashed. The fender took most of the impact. Glad my wheels didn't get damaged surprisingly.

Thank god I opted for full coverage, insurance payed for all of it. The bumper was also so reusable, just needed new tabs. The painter offered to shave/fill the bumper holes too so I opted for that.
Don't mind the water spots, I was washing it.

While the car was down, I decided to get a diffuser. I got a voltex replica. I am debating on whether I should mount this or get the spoon one. I am starting to veer over to getting the spoon.
Voltex

Spoon

Also debating if I should go back to the oem lip or CR lip or maybe even a mugen lip. I guess the first thing is to get the car running again.

I got it from a sponsor (moddiction) on the forum. Literally took two days. It is perfect, not too loud DD'ing but cracks when you hit vtak =)
