SoHonda Garage. S2000 Build

y wife found a used GTC-200 on craigslist for cheeaaaaaap and decided it would be a good birthday present. It needed some restoration work, and I was not a fan of the OEM stands so I worked on making up a set of my own.
started with a quick concept sketch...
Ended up settling on this design in CAD
Made some prototypes from MDF to mock everything up...
At the same time I was working on a mounting plate for the AiM MXL dash I had picked up. (which I later sold)
here you can see the development process...
Everything back raw from water jet cutting...
nice fit
I drilled and tapped the bases to accept m6x1.0 bolts to come through the decklid and mocked it up in the metal.
Once I was happy with how everything went together I painted the stands (eventually will goto powder coat but wanted to get them done before I hit TSMP in a week or so)
I applied some black vinyl where the wing would slide to avoid marring and scratching the paint away.
I was also working on the blade at this time... It needed to have all the gel coat sanded completely off as it was sun blistered and looking very bad.
I decided to hit it with some matte clear to match the sides of the top I did in matte clear.
Everything on with the final install...
More to come....

Next up for the exterior a friend of a friend was selling this authentic airwalker front lip for a price I couldnt say no too...
It required some trimming to to fit nicely but nothing a small file and sand paper couldnt fix...
With the addition of the new lip and the less than perfect paint on the hood I decided to get the whole nose painted so that everything had a better chance of matching, and have a smoother finish from a professional.
I of course did as much prep and help as I could, which included filling the emblem and license plate holes...
Primer...
Paint...
First mock up...
final assembly
Some pics before the HT went back on...
And first shots of her rolling out in 2016

Next up in this update is prep for the First Cars and Coffee. The tradition is that the homies come up the night before for prep and hanging out and we roll out in the morning. These are pictures captured by Dre/Dan/Claudio

Last and final update....
TSMP was having a last minute open day along side some formula car races. We were graced with 3 hours of drive time with only 6 others driving in the HPDE portion. Fantastic.
Fortunately the homie Riley was sick that day and came out to have some fun.
Claudio came by before work and took some snaps...
this jag and its hauler was such a cool combo...
Riley and I both ran out of fuel...
Back home safe and sound....and dirty
cleaned up
New additions and driver improvements lead to a new PB of 1'23"6 which is over 2 seconds faster from last year. The car completely different with the wing, I couldnt believe the difference this "small wing" made. I added 3-4mph in my exit speeds easily.
Here is video of a 1'24"1 lap i didnt catch the fastest

And just some cruising around

After the Track day and things actually started to warm up I went on a drive and got took some shots with an actual camera.

I love this car so much. Good updates, it was about damn time!
This car almost makes me want to sell the CR, buy my third S2000, and do something similar to what you have done.

The work that has gone into this is just amazing. Extremely well done when it comes to the spoiler stands, sanding, and clearing...that came out great. I really like the new lip on the front end as well. This car is just solid on all accounts.
