Default NESBA at Pocono 8/11

Just curious if anyone from the NY/NJ/PA area will be going. A friend of mine will be there, and I expect that if the weather's good when I get up, I'll be spectating and shooting pictures for the day.

Mike, I'm back, was there from the first session at 9 until about 3:30. I'll have a few pics up later, then I'll process the rest and put a google album up.

As it was my first event, and having done a number of HPDE's in a car, I was really suprised at how often the sessions stopped due to falls. It seemed like every session was cut short except for one or two. Some of the session only had 2 or 3 laps it seemed.

While the Advanced groups seemed to be moving well, the Beginner groups seemed like parade laps at time. They also put a lot more bikes on a track than I've seen cars. Of course, I've never run the 2.5 mile course at Pocono, just the 1.1? m North course.

My friends are both in the Beginner classification with NESBA, but Intermediate with other organizations. They kind of hinted they like the other groups better. They have been trying to get to one event a month.

I can definitely get you in contact with Eric if you want, and you can hear his opinions and experience directly.

No thanks. After some more thought, these bikes are obviously NOT up to speed and this is probably the first lap out, but man, that's A LOT of bikes in one group. Never rode w/ NESBA but have heard they are very beginner friendly.

Jacko, try NYSBC.

Yeah holy crap that does seem like too many bikes at one time
Gary thanks for the e-mail and pics
I was thinking of doing something like this only because of how
much fun and what you learn doing an HPDE with the S2000 but
seeing all of those bikes and hearing about all those fall downs
makes me a bit nervous I'd like to track the bike and be a better
rider but at what cost ?

I was actually just talking with my insurance agent about this because
he tracks his bike, but he has a dedicated track bike and says that if
he goes down its less then 1000 bux to replace his race fairing but if
I go down it could cost like 3-4000 bux to replace mine so he
suggested I go to an event where I can use there bike instead it will
cost more but he feels that is the way to go so I'll have to do some
more research maybe I'll fly out to Vegas for a few days next year
or something like that

Mike,

Let me clarify. It seemed like every session had a rider down. I was there for one of them, and it was a fairly simple turn and the guy just went 'underside' (Is that the right term). They stopped the session to get the crew to check and get him back and moving. They chose to red flag the sessions rather than throw local yellows.

I'd say there were a total of 6 or 7 for the day. Unfortunately it was 1 every morning session just about, so it seemed that there were often times with no one riding.

From a safety perspective, better that than someone ignore a yellow and make a potential inconvenient situation a deadly one. I can their prerspective.
