Area Driving Schools?
I was interested in taking a 1 or 2-day course in performance/racing driving at a local school but didn't know of any. Does anybody have any experience in this area? What places would you recommend?

Depends. Here are some previous threads:

If you want to drive your own car, take the Russell Racing High Performance Course or the Thunderhill street course.
If you are only interested in street driving skills and accident avoidance, then you can take the Skip Barber 1 or 2 Day driving course. Russell Racing has a similar course.
If you want to learn racing techinques, try Skip Barber's 3 Day Racing School or the Russell Racing Techniques of Racing course. I haven't taken the Russell TRC class, so I can't comment on it (ask sylvainsf about it). The Skip Barber class is at Laguna Seca and is a lot of fun. You can save yourself some money by taking the class in the winter season. It's about $1K cheaper.
