Default CEL

Hello Gang,

We this morning I got a CEL... Engine runs fine (from what I can tell) and the CEL is steady (Not flashing). I did change my exhaust from stock to an HKS dual hi-power last Friday. I've had no problems until this morning. Anyone know if I need to reset the computer like some have to do when replacing the stock intake with a aftermarker one? I've read thru a few threads and can't find anyone having to reset the computer due to an exahuast swap. Btw, I do not have a test pipe...just incase anyone is wondering. I hope I dont have a bigger issue. Lastly, how do I pull the code without a scanner?

Edit:
Bah, I just found the "Ultimate CEL Thread"...Idk how i missed it. It answered most of my questions. I guess I'll just take it to autozone and find out which code it is exactly then hit this the thread back up.

This might help.

Go to your local auto parts store and ask for a OBD2 code reader or come out to the meet and ask one of they guys to read/clear your codes for you.

i think it's better to go to a group of individuals who know about the car, compared to going to a guy who doesn't even know what can cause the cel in that particular car.. it's pretty much a free diagnostic haha

Simply changing the exhaust itself shouldn't cause a CEL. Your info says you are in Dubin. If you want to come by my place (I'm in Dublin as well), I'll pull the code for you. Otherwise there isn't much that can be done until you determine what the CEL is for.

I have the same problem every now and then. Only the CEL goes on and off at random. Ive changed my exhaust and intake, but it seems to still run fine. Clueless as to why it turns on/off though. Bad o2?
