Default computer advice

hi guys i was wondering if anyone thats computer savvy could offer me advice as to what to do with my desktop (which i dont know what my sister did to)
basically i have a trojan called "Trojan.Vundo" which mysteriously appeard after my sister used my computer the other day (hmmmmm... suspicious) basically its a trojan thats scattered all over the place. norton antivirus gave me the locations of where the virus is its a page and a half of files. anyway, where would i go about to manually delete those files? i tried to use the search key since they all started with "HKEY_" i figured i could hit them all with the search button and just delete all of them, but i found no files when i did the search.
TIA guys

Shouldn't Norton AV automatically delete the instances of the virus?

The last time I got a virus, I tried to kill all traces of it, but it kept surfacing eventually. I ended up reformatting

you definitely don't want to delete anything/everything that begins with HKEY_*, those are all your registry settings. to access them, you would need to run regedit from start menu --> run. if you know the specific registry files as listed by norton, you can delete those.

a few things i would try before reformat:
1. better virus software. we use sophos anti-virus at work, but this isn't free. a good online virus scanner i like is housecall.trendmicro.com

2. try downloading ad-aware
3. try downloading spybot
3. also download ccleaner
4. tell your sister to stop downloading pr0n jk

good luck!

o btw. i always uninstall the comcast software after the settings are all set up. so you don't really need that unless you use their email and stuff. linksys software usually isn't necessary either? at least i never use it haha.

No need to keep the comcast and linksys software, and I also never used it.

Best bet with trojans that has spread everywhere is to just reformat. Virus scanners are not perfect, and it doesn't always delete all instances of the virus, so it will still be there and respread.
