so here's a little tip i did to 2 of my expenses with SBC (internet/land line) and comcast (cable).

i've been their customer for a while (so this may not work for you) and i called them up since i realized that i didn't want to pay as much for my internet/phone and cable, $58 and $55 respectively. pretty much, i had all the research available for competetive prices for switching up to comcast cable internet and the dish network for my tv and was ready to duke it out. you call up customer service, bitch a little bit about how much you're paying...if they don't budge, ask to speak to the customer retention department. bitch to them some more and see what they can do.

now, i pay $40 for phone/internet and $52 for my cable tv (which still includes my HD + HBO and a ton of other channels i requested in addition to the package I had before i called).

problem solved...at least for now.

Dude, I don't think you should be paying more than $50/month for Comcast internet...

So when you call up "customer service", and they sell you their product, it isn't a fixed rate? I mean, is it like buying a car, where the salesperson will sell it to you for as high a price as they can get you to pay??

You're gonna laugh when I say I only pay $10 for AT&T internet and $11.99 for dish network. The secret? dial up is ample for me (able to download everything quickly enough) and since I'm never home, I only need local programming to watch CSI, Prison Break and all the local channels (when I AM home).
