Wow... awesome pics.. I was there in the summer of 2001 and it definitely held it's own vs the other places that we went on our trip, Rome, Athens and Greek Isles...
We spent about 3 days in Istanbul at the end of our trip... at the grand bazaar, haia sophia, blue mosque, the cisterns, topkapi palace etc.
We went on a ferry ride on a boat that looked similar to the one in your pictures and ended up getting a free song and dance show!! some local musicians just started playing and then a couple girls started on the bellydancing.. .quite surreal.

Iphone you said? I do hope you pulled out the sim card or had it in airplane mode. Otherwise you could be in for a nasty surprise come bill time.....
