Dude, my J's 70RS single is the exact same way. I thought it would be loud having 75mm to 70mm all the way back w/ no cat but it's SO quiet.

What's the distance on db measurement? The SS could make it, heavier, maybe better insulation

It's .5 meters or ~19.7 inches from the tip at a 45 degree angle outward from the exit. We are thinking that the SS will help lower the dB's by absorbing some of the resonance. 2 dB's isn't very much at all.
