PROBLEM: I was turning on my engine this morning and MAINT REQ'D light was flashing for few second. And it flashes every time I turn on my engine.
HISTORY:I bought my car back in July 01' and the mileage at this time is 6500. Any reason for the problem???
NEED HELP!!! Anyone have suggestions or comments?

ok... found it. (page 49)
To reset the Maintenance required indicator, turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position, then press and hold the trip meter reset button while you turn the ignition switch ON. Continue holding the button until the indicator resets (the indicator light goes out).

When you get close to the next service... the light will flash only at start up... once you get closer to 7500 miles since the last time you reset the maintenence light, it will start to flash long and the light will eventually lead up to staying on...
The light will begin to flash to remind you that you are getting close to your next service, and then it will blink long and faster and then eventually stay on when you are definitely ready to take it in for service. If it is prematurely blinking, the mechanical probably did not reset it at your last service.
The light does not have a memory of your last service, it only remembers (by mileage) the last time your reset the light.

HEEEELLLLLLOOOOOOOOO!
The light starts to come on early to start to warn you.... once it reachs the appropriate mileage for your service, then the light will stay on.
It is a WARNING LIGHT!
