Few things you can check:

1. Make sure you have 12-14.5 VDC coming from the battery to the AMP. Should be an inline fuse somewhere too.

2. Make sure you have a good ground to the AMP.

3. Check the "Remote" wire heading from the head unit to the AMP. This wire is used to send a voltage from the head unit to the AMP allowing it to turn on when the Head unit is turned on.

Do you have any other symptoms?

Why did you remove the head unit to begin with?

Did you unplug the harness when you removed the head unit? If so, did you make sure it was plug in securely?

What kind of connections do you have on your wiring harness? Butt connectors, solder or twist and tape? Maybe you loosened an already lost connection (IE: remote wire).

RCA's only send the music back to your amp. Has nothing to do with the amp turning on and off. Some amps go into protection if you short out the RCA cables but I'm assuming you did this with everything off and you reinstalled correctly.

Some RCA have a wire in the middle that some use for remote turn on. Some people do use it. But I would check that the amp is getting power then check if the amp is getting the signal from the deck to turn in then ground

Check fuses on amp after the. Check head unit
