Default State Ref HELP

Hello Bay Area S2ki, first post on here. So last night, I got pulled over after smashing the throttle. Long story short, he gave me 4 fix it tickets.

No front plate, bald tires (I'm on Re11s), failure to provide proof of insurance (the car is insured, I was irresponsible and neglected to put the papers in the car), and loud muffler. He also gave me a state ref sticker. The only mods I have under my hood is an oil cooler and a Mishimoto radiator. Stock intake, just removed airbox because it won't clear the radiator, and stock exhaust with an electric cutout before the muffler. He pulled me when I had the cutout open. He didn't catch me at the time, but I do have a CEL and I need to replace my secondary o2 sensor.

I have been looking this up half the day already, and everyone who's gotten reffed has modified intake, exhaust, or emissions. Cop just wanted to be a complete dick and waste my time. My car couldn't look any more stock, save for a rollbar. What would I have to do to go and pass both the visual and emissions test?

You need the stock intake or a carb legal one. If the cutout is after the car you are fine. You can have your exhaust Db read at the ref for a fee and prove its less then state law. Also that is just a ticket no longer a fix it ticket. They will check everything and then check it again. It has to pass the roller test and the obd test. So you basically get tested twice. Once like an older vehicle and once like obd only vehicle.

I forgot to mention that the violations he listed me for are all marked as correctible. Does that make any difference? And I do have the stock intake on, just no airbox. Should I do some cutting and try to fit it in? I'm sure I'll pass the smog tests, but I'm really concerned about the visual part. Even with the cutout closed and it sounding exactly like stock, is there a chance I could fail it simply because I have it on the car?

You need the completed Intake. It basically needs to be stock from Honda or have carb legal parts. Anything modified will not pass. As long as cut out is after cat then it will pass. It does not interfere with emissions. If you are that worried call down to the state ref and ask them. They will tell you yes or no on the cutout before you go. Correctable doesn't mean anything. I had a state red ticket saying uncorrectable and the judge through it out. Fix what you need to and take your day in court.

Seems like everything you got cited for was pretty much preventable... and what are you doing driving on bald tires? Good luck with the state ref.

When I got my state ref ticket I was not doing anything illegal. Minding my business. I was pulled over because of street races happening Thursday night In my area so I was suspicious. Mind you it's 5pm in the afternoon. So yes cops are dicks sometimes. I like a dummy willing popped my hood and he saw one stainless steel nitrous line that had come out of the wire mold. Pretty sharp cop but none the less unnecessary considering bottle wasn't in car at said time. So yes they can be dicks.

True, cops can be dicks, but in OP's situation he was just asking for it. We all drive some type of modded cars with legal and illegal mods. The ones that act up on the streets ruin it for all the other people, and the cops are just doing their job. Personally, I'll blame the drivers that act up on the street not the police. To OP, good luck with your state ref situation.
