probably the map or TPS sensor (forgot which one was which when I did it on my 01') for the kangarooing issue, just bring a zip tie (i've found the thinner ones to work better) and ziptie the sensor to it's terminals with as much tension as possible. drive it again and see if you can reproduce the kangaroo feeling.

pretty minor issue if that's what you're describing.

I guess I'm kind of glad to hear that. I've driven a handful of AP1s and a few AP2s, but I've never gotten this "kangarooing" before.

This was the first time I was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic in one. How else do you get through that without staying in and out of 1st gear?

Also, it was 40 degrees outside (San Jose), so I didn't think heat bog was possible.
I never let fully off the throttle when in first.

Ok, offtopic, but I figured I'd post here to get a quick local reply:

I just got a compression test at REN Motorsports in San Mateo:
2002 AP1

#1: 175
#2: 150
#3: 175
#4: 165

Are those good? Bad?? I'm worried they aren't close to the 240s? But they look consistent.

What say you?

i think you might have the same problem i have.
just say you are driving normally and you are coming to a stop. u throw the car in neutral, and while coasting your car's rpm starts to go below normal. and once u fully stop, the car shakes and feels like it will die. yet sometimes it does die.

^ is this what happens to you too?
just recently my check engine light came on too.

I was reading around and narrowed it down to the IAC. Idle Air Control.
So just today i took it apart and cleaned it out.
I put everything back together and now my car is running better and my check engine light went away.

I've come to the conclusion that it's not a big deal.

I started a bigger thread in the Talk forum and people were helpful. Lots of ideas/suggestions and fixes (including your IAC cleaning--which I hope is what your CEL code meant)...
