Default Want your recommendation on engines

hey guys/girls as most of you already know my car is dead in socal. It is now in desperate need of a new motor. The piston walls cracked on me But anyhow i was wondering if you more experienced motor people can help me out. If you had 5k for a motor which route would you choose?

Buying used isn't bad but i'm afraid of the abuse people do to them so i'd rather pay a little more for a good motor.

I'm thinking about buying a freshly rebuilt one right now but will need to call them before hand as see what is exactly done.

Any recommendations?

Approximately half way through '02, Honda changed the design of the oil jet bolt from a 2 hole design to a 4 hole design offering better cooling of the pistons for extending high rpm driving. I did this upgrade last week.

Balancing an engine involves making all of the pistons and connection rods weight approximately the same to lessen the wobble of the crankshaft in the main bearings lessing wear. It can also involves balancing the crankshaft. I'm pretty sure the F20C cames fairly balanced already. My crankshaft had drill marks in it indicating it had been balanced.

"Blueprinting an engine simply means to build it to some specification". This may involve removing material from the crank journals so they all use the same size bearing.

Oh also...if you're looking for reliablity I'd be VERY cautions about any of the JDM offerings. Racing motors and street motors are two entirely different beasts....
