The Official Cobra thread!!!
#221
Well between helping a fellow FFR owner put in a door in his house, playing 3 games of tennis, going over to some friends house for margaritas, running errands, and sleeping I managed to get all the guages, switches and buttons in and working. I also got the horns hooked up but forgot to take a picture (oh, horns, how exciting). Here's the completed dash ( I will cover it later):
I also got the controller for the heater, the light switch, and the ignition mounted. I have to create a bracket for the turn signal stalk, but I am going to do that in the metal shop at school.

NIce! I thought this was a complete kit. Why do you have to fabricate so much stuff? BTW, my sis in law will be moving to Fresno to do a Med School rotation soon. We'll drive down to see her, and hopefully stop in and see the COBRA and turn a wrench or 2 to say I contributed to the COBRA!

Hey Johnathan,
If Raj's photochopping skills are any kind of clue...I'd be REAL cautious about handing him a wrench. Don't even think about letting him touch a paint gun, your Cobra could end up Pink! Or even worse...Yellow with spinners!!!!

Raj, I am doing this a little different then the book recommends. Besides, there may be brackets in the boxes and I just don't know it.

Now that break has started, I hope to get some serious building done. I have to go to LA on Friday until Sunday, so my build time has been tapped into. Here's what happened today:
I wish I had a big stamp to go over the picture like on Monster House that says DONE!!.
The trunk is done and side padded. Carpet will be later (maybe).
Wiring in engine bay is all taped and loomed.
Remember what it use to look like:
Driver footbox is now completed and rivoted.
Cockpit has all aluminum in and rivoted.
Tomorrow's plan is to attach the last two little aluminum pieces, drill and attach roll bar, install seats, change shifter, and if things go right, a gocart ride down the street.
I would like to put the body on Monday. Anyone not going to work that day and want to come down early?

Looking good Jonathan ! If I didn't have to work tomorrow, I would definitely come down to give you a hand with the body. If you take it for a go cart run tomorrow, you'll have to give me a call and let me know how it went!
Theresa and I finished the cabinets and counter tops in the barn last weekend, and we are now on to the home theater project. I picked up my new suuround sound speakers and sub yesterday, so we now have big sound to go with the big screen!
