It was horrifying and THE most surreal experience of my life. What most people outside of the NY area at the time don't realize(and couldn't for that matter) were the seemingly ordinary things that were out of place. Like, the next morning, at the train station parking lots there were tons of cars with parking tickets on them....These were all people who commuted into Manhattan and worked at WTC, that weren't coming back...
The first few nights when there were fighter jets constantly flying formation over and around the city, very low altitude.
Or after they shut down air space for so long, THEN you heard an airplane in the air, it made you flinch, jump, and look for cover...
My neighbor was a firefighter...His comapny went in that day. it was his day off, he's alive. His best friend never made it out...
I trained a lot of the FDNY and NYPD guys and they are gone....It's a tough day for me...

I'll light a candle tonight for my friends and their families. I was never in danger, but my hat will always be off to the men and women who ran in to help, when the world around them was on fire and about to collapse...

I just got back from NYC a few weeks ago. While i was there i visited ground zero and got see the make shift memorials. All i can say was i got goose bumps just knowing what happened there. I hope God watches over the families of all the victims.
