Default Anybody Use 100 Octane Gas from 76 Stations?

My MY03 S2K seems happy with the 91 octane gas that passes for premium in the People's Republic of California. I've had a couple of 3 liter Alfa V6 cars that ran like crap on the same stuff. They were built to run on 93 octane or better gas .

A while back, a couple of WRX jockeys at work were raving about some 100 octane gas they got at the local 76 station here in Agoura Hills. I filled the Alfa with the stuff, and after I ran two tanks through it, the car was much happier. I know the S2K's ecu has enough brain power to adjust for less than ideal octane situations, but was wondering if anyone out there has tried the 100 octane gas, and what the results were.

It doesn't make a difference unless you're doing forced induction, or a race ECU like the Mugen or the AEM EMS.

I've tried 105 from sunoco, and felt the difference only in warmer weather, but other than that, not worth the $5 per gallon!

I know a guy that would run a mix of 91 and 100 octane. He had a blower and aem ems. When he went turbo, he had to do the same to prevent any knocking.

I always run my EVO with a mixture of 91 and 100 (or 101) octane. I did a dyno session, and gained almost 10 awhp with 6 gallons of 101 and 91 for the rest (8 gallons).

Thanks. Since the ecu is mapped for 91 octane, I assumed that anything above that number would just be wasted $$.

I usually do half and half when I find one of the few 76 stations that carries 100 octane.

I'm currently mixing 4 gal of 91 with 1 gal of 110 to get about 95 octane and my Sportech loves it. It farts and splutters if I only run 91. I'm running around 12.8:1 compression.

nope, ecu isn't mapped for 91. I wouldn't say it's not mapped since it can adjust to any fuel you put in there but it is mapped for specific a/f ratios.
