Speed Ventures will be on the big track Sept. 1 & 2

http://www.speedventures.com/events/...il.aspx?id=134

Then we'll be on the Streets course Sept. 14.

These aren't private events, but you wouldn't mind having professional corner workers, fire rescue, AMB timing, and ambulance on site for a lower cost... would you?

Don't worry... you'll get PLENTY of track time!

Typically how many hours would one get at one of the Speed Ventures events?

I went with a small private group of VW and Audi drivers a long time ago (not in the s2k, obviously) and we pretty much ran at-will all day. The only time people stopped were when they wanted to let their cars take a break.

Speed Ventures separates into groups right? Faster and slower?

Interested, but would be annoyed at having to wait for the "faster" cars every couple hours.

Ya, private events are generally the best. If you find one, make sure to post.

You'll get at least 2 1/2 hours, but when we're not full we allow folks to run extra sessions. We definitely separate drivers by ability. It's much too scary for the slow guys to be running with the fast ones, and much too frustrating for the fast ones to run with the slow.

You'll certainly have more overall track time with most private events, but you don't have the security that our highly skilled safety crew provides, nor the formalized instruction for beginners, or the luxury of AMB computerized timing.

The other big difference is that we usually get the tracks on the weekends (when the rental is MUCH more expensive) Most private days have to happen Tuesday-Thursday to make the cost at all affordable. (Plus, the good tracks are all booked a year in advance on the weekends. We're reserving our '08 dates now)

Private track days are a lot of fun, and I agree that it's very cool to have the track all to yourself. I think you'll improve more at a Speed Ventures event with the many extra resources available, but it's definitely not as cool as bragging to your friends that you've rented a racetrack for the day to play on.

If you do end up doing a private event... STAY SAFE!!! (keep the shiny side up )
