How about you BAN the carpool lane first?
Studies have shown they actually INCREASE traffic jams, thus increasing polution.
OR... how about we do something to stop the state's population growth?
Nope... lets make light bulbs $5 each

What studies??? I always see them flowing better than the freeway lanes, except in unusual traffic..........
If you don't believe this, go drive the 91-E from Anaheim to Riverside during rush hour. It gets bad when cars start darting over to get into fast-track. It clears a half mile after all the cars pour out into traffic again. I drove the route every day for four months...

Yes, THEY flow better. The traffic around them gets worse. There was a huge thing about the impact of the carpool and express lanes on the 91. Basically, the backup caused by people funneling into and out of the openings slows everyone in the normal lanes.

Don't blame the carpool lanes.....no one knows how to safely merge out here.
